Phu My 2 Bridge to receive investment of more than VND 23 trillion
Phu My 2 Bridge is being developed under a BT contract, with Masterise Phu My Infrastructure JSC serving as the investor. The project has an estimated total investment of approximately VND 23.185 trillion.
The bridge is designed with eight traffic lanes, while the entire route, including the main bridge and approach roads, is expected to span approximately 14.8 km. Of this, around 4.6 km will run through Ho Chi Minh City and another 10.2 km through Dong Nai.
The project is currently undergoing procedures to complete and submit its feasibility study report for approval. Based on the updated schedule, construction is expected to start in September 2027, with completion targeted for 2029.
Can Gio Bridge expected to begin construction in September 2027
Can Gio Bridge is also being developed under a BT contract, with Masterise Can Gio Infrastructure JSC as the investor. The project has an estimated investment of around VND 13.201 trillion, a total length of approximately 7.3 km, and a design capacity of six traffic lanes.
The investor is currently preparing the feasibility study report for submission to the relevant authorities. If the schedule proceeds as planned, construction is expected to begin in September 2027, with the project targeted for completion in 2029.
Construction timeline adjusted from previous plans
Both Can Gio Bridge and Phu My 2 Bridge had previously been scheduled for earlier construction. The two projects were officially launched in a groundbreaking ceremony on January 15, 2026.
Earlier plans had targeted June 3, 2026 for the start of construction of Can Gio Bridge, while Phu My 2 Bridge had been expected to break ground in the second quarter of 2026. Under the latest schedule, however, construction of both projects has been pushed back to September 2027 as the necessary investment and approval procedures continue.
Given their scale and strategic locations, the two bridges are expected to play an important role in strengthening inter-regional connectivity and completing the transport network linking Ho Chi Minh City with neighboring areas.
Ho Chi Minh City prepares additional major infrastructure projects
In addition to Can Gio Bridge and Phu My 2 Bridge, Ho Chi Minh City is preparing several other major transport projects under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.
Notable projects include a proposed 14.06-km sea-crossing road connecting Can Gio with Vung Tau, as well as the Ho Chi Minh City–Moc Bai Expressway, which is expected to be approximately 50 km long.
The simultaneous development of these infrastructure projects is expected to expand regional connectivity, improve transport capacity between Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding areas, and support the city's broader urban and economic development.
